The Mac HD icon doesn't appear in the Window's Bootcamp Control Panel:
This seems to be this same issue from October 2017. I have updated my software in both operating systems, including the Apple Software Update on Windows.
If I select "Restart in macOS...", I get an error:
Could not locate the macOS boot volume.
I am able to boot into macOS by restarting, holding "Option", and selecting Macintosh HD.

Most older Macs requires the Alt/Option method as documented in Switch between Windows and macOS in macOS High Sierra - Apple Support .
This is because Bootcamp.exe does not recognize APFS file system in High Sierra.

This is misleading. The MacBook Pro on which I'm experiencing the problem is mid-2017 running High Sierra. I've tested this on an older MacBook Pro (mid-2012) that's still on macOS Sierra (10.12.6) and this problem does not exist.

Sierra (10.12.6) does not use APFS. APFS was introduced in High Sierra (10.13). High Sierra does not convert mechanical HDDs or external disks to APFS during upgrade.

All Macs running High Sierra (except the latest iMac Pro) need to use Alt/Option during Reboot to switch back to macOS from Windows. 😉
