why has the screen of myself on Facetime so dark?

When I look at the window of my own face on the facetime screen, the image is very dark. Is there a way to adjust that?

FaceTime Usually, when I’m on FaceTime and I click the home button, I would still be able to see my friend from the FaceTime screen still appearing but smaller. But recently whenever I would press the home button, the small FaceTime screen won’t appear, it would just be the green bar at the top, and I don’t know how to change it so that the screen will appear.
