modifying key bindings for changing tracks and play / pause

I wonder how to change keys for functions, such as previous and next track and play/ pause?

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), null

Normally you can't unless an app like Karabiner allows it.

oh, so sad there's no way to modify using only the system settings, not sure about unknown sources when about input/output access

If you mean "Karabiner" as the unknown source, I don't use it but I don't remap my keyboard. However, many people use it and depend on it. It's also free which is a plus.

Just to add, I don't know for certain if it will remap the media keys. But if anything will I assume it will.
