how can I add a image and see the correct size in the viewer?

for example, when I drop an image in the time line it comes up very large in the viewer

So now I have to resize the image this is a pain as I have to resize every image I drop on the time line.

please help

Hi, can someone tell me how to get rid of the scrolling vertical black lines that move across my images in iMovie in a project? I have completed a project in iMovie and when I play the completed piece there are vertical black lines scrolling across the images as the film plays??? How can I get rid of these?
