How to print a selection of cells only in Apple Numbers ?

The command to paste into a new file from clipboard stays greyed out no matter what I do and I can not use my good old trick anymore. I have no clue why

SGIII suggested, and I can confirm, that you can copy to the clipboard then switch to Preview. Then select the menu item "File > New From Clipboard…"

Perhaps you did not perform the copy first? Also, make sure you are up-to-date. I was using mac OS X 10.13.3 and Numbers 4.3.1

Hi ProfMac,

Select and copy the cells that you want to print.

Insert a new Numbers sheet.

Delete the default table in that sheet.

Paste. Your copied cells will appear.

Menu > File > Print (command p) to see Print Setup.

in the Print Setup panel on the right: Print > This Sheet.

Done, and no need for the Preview App.

I believe you about the grey out! I also believe, as posted above, that "paste" and "insert" don't exist in Preview, and never did. You can still do what you always did: make a selection in Numbers (or another app), command-c to copy something to the system clipboard, then with Preview open go to File > New From Clipboard. Or simply type command-n.

If 'New from Clipboard' is greyed out then that may be because you don't actually have anything on the clipboard. Either your copy operation from Numbers wasn't successful or you perhaps have some third party clipboard management software on your machine that interferes with the copy.

Note that the 'New from Clipboard' in Preview is not specific to Numbers. It works with lots of apps on the Mac.

I find it easier to use Preview rather than copy into a separate Numbers sheet and print that, because that way I don't have to worry about formula references. Also there's no cleanup needed afterward deleting the extra sheet; just quit Preview. Using Preview really does take just a few seconds.

Hi Prof'

You can also select the whole Table by clicking any cell, then clicking the circle at the intersection of the row of column reference tabs and the column of row reference tabs off the top left corner of the table.

Or you can select the whole Table by clicking away from the table, keeping the mouse button down and dragging a selection rectangle that encloses (or touches) the table.

One click on B2, now click circle (red arrow).

What I do in High Sierra (as in previous versions of the OS) is select the cells in Numbers that I want to print, type control-c to copy to the clipboard, then in Preview choose File > New from Clipboard from the menu, and print the result. Quick and easy.

It seems likely that your muscle memory shifted when you moved to the new OS.

In Preview use File > New from Clipboard.
