i bought a Hektar wireless charging lamp and a vitahult cover from ikea to charge my iphone 5s. it doesnt work. is my battery too old? fo i need to buy a new one?

The 5s doesn't support wireless charging at all. Only the 8, 8 Plus and X support wireless charging. As noted, you may be able to buy a case that will allow you to charge the phone wirelessly, but honestly, I wouldn't invest that kind of money in a 5s.

Apple doesn't directly support wireless charging for anything before the iPhone 8/8+/X. You might be able to do it with a wireless charging case that would covert the wireless charging to input to a Lightning connector. Something like this:

The lamp works but not the charging elements. Even with a USB connection. That’s why I’m windering if it’s the battery too old?

Sorry about the previous mixup. I wasn’t sure what “cover” meant. I believe that lamp and case are Qi certified, but Ikea has no products in Apple’s MFi database.

It could be any number of things, but without having a Qi device to test the charging pad it would be difficult to rule out the lamp’s charging pad. It could be the case - either the circuits don’t work or it doesn’t play nice with your phone. Apple does list wireless charging cases as MFi certified, but I don’t know of any for the iPhone 5S.

If it doesn't work, then return the case and lamp. The condition of your battery should have nothing to do with it unless the battery won't take a charge from a wired connection either.
