Messages app and Facetime not working on MacBook

My 2017 MacBook Air's Messages app and Facetime is not working. Whenever I try to sign in it responds with "An error occured during authentication" or simply times out. Any idea how to fix this issue?

MacBook Air, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)
