Remote Control with Powerpoint

I am using a MacBook Pro 2016 15" to deliver a power point presentation. I want to be able to use a remote control. How do I do this? I have an old Apple TV remote (2011?) that worked with my old MacBook.

Trying to get apple tv remote to work with imac I have an imac in office room and apple tv in the bedroom. My imac can see the apple tv in airplay and I select it and I goto to the bedroom and I can see the image from the imac on the Apple tv. The problem is how do I control the imac using apple tv in the bedroom? I am trying to view the imovie or photos in the bedroom with apple tv remote does not work? How do I get this to work? I also like to mirror the process so that I can control my imac with the apple tv. Thanks James

Is there not a way to open an Apple TV software remote on an imac to control the Apple TV? Is there not a way to open an Apple TV software remote on an imac to control the Apple TV? We can do it from an iphone or ipad.

That model of MacBook Pro does not have an infrared sensor, no recent Mac's have them.

Buy a wifi handheld remote from Logitech Kensington or Gyration.
