Can you fix an iPhone after it’s been in extreme heat condition?

My husband dropped his phone on a very hot tray and it was there for a few minutes before hi realised the case was really hot to touch, he put it in the fridge but now it won’t hold it’s charge!

iPhone X will only work in the fridge I’ve had my iPhone X for almost 2 years and it’s increasingly harder to keep it cool while charging (often even when not charging). For the last couple of months I’ve restored to literally storing it in the fridge (signal is fine in their apparently). If I have it out on the desk etc it just gets too hot soon as I have even one app running, eg Spotify overheats the phone to the point of shut down within 10-15 mins. Leaving it in the fridge is a pain as I have to have a charge cable running into the fridge and numerous times the phone gets knocked out and onto the floor so it’s not got several screen cracks (if I have it in it’s cover it cools even quicker). Is there a fix for this? (It’s got other issues as well, like the fasciae recognition stopped working after about 6 months, the microphone is crackly and it has to be recharged 2-3 times a day).

Long term damage of phone being in extreme cold? I had dropped my iphone 8 plus in snow at -40 weather, found it 5 hours later semi-submerged in snow and a little frozen and turned off as it does when it’s cold. I immediately removed visible snow/ice on the exterior before it melted. There were no scratches or cracks, I also removed the case. I had it drying upright for about 2 hours when I had accidentally turned it on, but turned it off immediately after. Then I had upright it in rice for about 2 weeks (people say this hardly works but I thought as long as it’s upright it wouldn’t hurt), and then another week just in the open air in the living room. I turned it on yesterday and tried plugging it, seems to work fine. My question is would it be safe to continue using it? Would the components, specially the battery or the screen, suddenly breakdown and or slowly get damaged if it isn’t already and start to leak toxic substances or battery acid or whatever it can be because it was in extreme cold? (If it’s a stupid question I apologize in advance, I have 0 knowledge of the hardware of a phone) and what signs should I look out for to know that I need to bring it to repair centre?

iPhone Overheating I have the iPhone 5S (Yes, I know it's old, but it was still holding out for me, so I am using it until the day it no longer works.) Anyway, the other day, I went to the store, and I left the phone in the car because it was charging from, like, 4%. I was in the store for maybe half an hour, and when I got back to the car, I turned it on to make sure I hadn't missed any calls, and all I saw was, "Temperature: iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it." The phone itself had only charged to 10%. I unplugged it, because it stopped charging, and powered it off. When I turned it back on after holding it in front of my car's A/C vent, it still said that. It has been about four days now, and no matter what temperature it's in (yes, even the freezer for a few minutes), it is somehow stuck on that screen. Is there maybe an internal thermometer or something that possibly malfunctioned? Can it be fixed, or is it finally time for the 5S to retire?

There are way too many things that could have happened given that it got hot and then placed in a cold, moist environment. Best case is that the battery was toasted and simply needs to be replaced, but it's really hard to know if can't be powered on. I'm pretty sure if you took it into an Apple Store they would want to run a full hardware diagnostic, but I don't believe that works if the battery has completely failed.

Worst case (as long as it doesn't look like it's been run over by a car) is that they trade it in for a replacement device at the out of warranty replace price. Here are the US prices:

For the future, don't put electronics in the refrigerator or freezer. I doubt it made a difference in this case. However, it can cause condensation to form on the device, exacerbating whatever the original problem was.

hard to say without a pro repair person open it up and check everything or just 1 thing could be permanent damaged

Sounds like the heat did the battery in. Call you local Apple Store and make an appointment for them to examine it. Afterwards they will tell you your alternatives.
