iPod Touch 6th Generation Battery Replacement

  1. Does the $29 replacement battery apply to the iPod Touch 6th gen?
  2. If not, how much does it cost to replace the battery?
  3. Can it be done at my local store?
  4. How long does it take?
  5. Will I lose everything on my iPod Touch or will it be saved somehow while the battery is being replaced?

1. No

2. iPod Service Pricing - Apple Support

3. Yes (if you mean your local Apple store)

4. Apple will replace your iPod with a refurbished one with a new battery, so it doesn't take any time at all.

5. You should back up your iPod to iTunes before taking it in. Then restore it to the replacement from that backup. You will loose nothing.

or you could do a Google search on "replace iPod battery" for a local or on line repair place that will replace the battery for less. You can even find a replacement battery (same search) for about $10 and replace it yourself if you're up to it.

  1. Thanks for your help. I'll contact my local Apple store in Syracuse NY where I originally purchased it.
  2. What are the steps I should use to backup my iPod to iTunes and then restore it? I should have pointed out that I use my iPod Touch as a mini iPad, not as a music only device.
  3. The actual model no. is MKHL2LL/A with 64 GB capacity running version 11.2.6.
