locked out

my iphone 6s locked me out and told me to connect to iTunes, when I did so it told my that the value was missing. I've tried restarting it multiple times but nothing is working. any help??

iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. The value is missing. I’m trying to resurrect an iPhone 7 for a disabled friend. The iPhone is disabled because of too many incorrect password attempts. It’s fine that the data on the phone will be lost in the process of restoring it via iTunes, but when I plug it in and attempt this procedure, iTunes presents an alert with the message, “iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. The value is missing.” Anyone know what value that may be and how to get around it so I can erase and restore the iPhone? Thanks in advance, Barry

What version of iTunes are you running on your computer? Please don't say "the latest version". Give us an actual version number.

Devices running iOS 11 require iTunes 12.7 or higher.
