Have you checked to see if you've hidden them from the Purchased redownloading area : Hide and unhide music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and books - Apple Support ?

It is just possible that the original album you purchased has been removed from the store and replaced. I guess this could potentially happen if an artist moves from one label to another. Whatever the cause the small print of the store makes it clear that redownloading past purchases relies on the continued availability of the purchased item. Can you not add it directly to your device from your computer?

I have a similar issue but there is nothing hidden in my iTunes account. On my PC, the song shows up in the list of songs but the iTunes store doesn't show the song as purchased. I can go into my purchase history from last year (May 2017) and find the purchase. But that doesn't do me any good. I want to add the song to a playlist on my iPhone but it acts like I never purchased it. I am afraid to remove it from iTunes on my PC if the iTunes store doesn't remember I have a purchase order ID?? I have not moved to another region/country. I have not changed email addresses. How do I fix this as not a single solution in Apple support I can find.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. Another song from same album appears unaffected. Bought the songs at different a few weeks apart but from same album. Also, checked and the artists have been with the same label. I guess I can copy it from PC to iPhone but that defeats the whole purpose. I want to play the song from icloud so I don't have to fill up the space on the iPhone. Apple works with Apple or at least it's supposed to.
