Key Photo Option

Good day all,

I know how I can do this on my MacBook Air but surly there has to be a way to do this on my iPad Pro, I am running the latest iOS and have read to make a key photo in an album I have created is to choose select from the menu bar then tap and hold a picture within that album and drag it to the upper left corner and then select done, well done does not appear and regardless of what photo is the first one shown in the album it does not show up as the key photo from the main album overview, I have all of my info backed up on iCloud if that matters.

So with all my rambling how does one choose and set a key photo in a photo album I created or can it not be done.

iPad Pro Wi-Fi, iOS 11.2.6

This is an album that you've created in the app, not a synced album or a built-in album ? For me dragging a photo to the first position in the album and releasing it and tapping 'Cancel' top right gets that photo to become the cover image for the album

If they are albums that were created by syncing photos from your Mac you can't change their cover photo in the Photos app on the iPad, synced albums aren't editable, it's albums that you create directly in the Photos app that you can change their cover photo.

Yes pretty much all the albums were created on my MB air and then all devices were set to backup to iCloud and all synced together so I can acess all from every device, maybe Apple should think about fixing this, so from what I gather you are saying I have to set the key photo from my MB Air if the album was created on it and if I created the album say using the iPad I can set the photo there

Well originally I had my MacBook Air and just used time machine for backups and no iCloud for anything then this past Christmas I stepped up into the 21st century and got a iPhone X to replace my 5 and a MacBook Pro and my sone set it all up to backup everything to iCloud so all the photos are synced thru the cloud I am guessing as when I delete a photo from an album on my phone it’s gone from the other devices as well.

All of the albums were originally created using my MacBook did not use existing albums, or I think all the albums were created with the MacBook, i am sure the one I am working in was created with the MacBook and I can make key photos there but I honestly have hardly used my MacBook since getting the tablet
