icloud services destroying cpu usage

i enjoy having my data backed up in the cloud, but icloud is consuming way too much cpu on a regular basis. At this point i'm canceling my extra data and disabling icloud becuase of these issues. would love apple to fix memory hogging issues.

you can see below bird and cloudd processes using a huge amount of cpu. this is a regular occurrence. 'cloudd' and 'bird' will often be consuming more than 90% of my cpu. ridiculous. dropbox and google cloud do not have issues like this. not using icloud until this is totally resolved.
