Unlock sprint iPhone

I’m wondering if I can trade in my phone for a universal iPhone or if I can have it unlocked so I can switch providers? I just paid this phone off but I’d like to change my service. If I’m able to do so that would be great, I don’t want to buy a new phone upon switching services. Please let me know what my options are. Thank you.
