Combine/Separate Photos in Slideshow

I am creating a photo slide show set to music for a funeral and I am wondering if there is a way I can combine two photos together to be shown on one slide and opposite of that, if there is a way that I can separate two photos that the system has generated together on one slide to be shown on two different slides? The photos are set specifically to the lyrics of the song so this is actually one of the most important parts. It's crazy to me with how advanced technology is that there is not a toolbar that allows you to customize your own slides within this program.

Not all themes offer more than one photo per slide. The two most generic themes are Classic and Ken Burns.

To join two photos into one you will need a 3rd party image editor or Pages.

A very easy way to create a custom slideshow is to create a book of the photos. That way you can have 1, 2, 3 and up to 7 photos per page if desired. Selecting the appropriate theme you'll be able to add text to selected pages. Next save the book as a PDF. Then use the app Any Free PDF TO JPG Converter to extract each page as a jpeg. Import those jpegs back into Photos and use them to create the slideshow or create a video DVD from the jpegs with iDVD and play that at the funeral.

This method is detailed in this tutorial: P03 - Creating an iDVD Slideshow from a Photos Library Book.

If you have trouble with iDVD there's another video DVD authoring application that can create video DVDs from image files: DVD Maker Lite - DVD Creator on the Mac App Store

which is available from the App Store
