Weird Vocal thing

I am really miffed about this. I recorded a vocal on a track. I was happy with it, so I applied a legacy setting on the channel strip for Voice called male Creamy Lead Vocal.

After I did this, I had no control over the volume of the vocal track. When I used the volume slider, it had no effect. When I use volume envelopes, they have no effect. The only way i seem to be able to raise the vocal level is by dialing up the busses. There are two busses assigned to the channel strip and i notice that when I dial them up, it does effect the vocal.

On the channel strip where the vocal is, I can see Channel EQ, Compressor, St-Delay and Ensemble as inserts.

On bus 9 (which the channel has) , I can see Space D and Channel EQ as inserts on the bus channel.

On bus 10 (which the channel has) , I can see Space D andf Channel EQ as inserts on the bus channel.

I don't understand this way of working. How does one have comntrol over the volume of the vocal in this setting? Usually, i would do this by way of the volume slider on the vocal track and/or the volume envelopes.

Thank-you for your time and expertise!
