IPad charges intermittently, starts and then stops.

I have a new 9-inch iPad Pro with iOS 11.2.6

In the past several months I have started to have charging problems. When plugged in it starts to charge, the charging icon is visible. Usually I leave it overnight. When I come back I see that it has not charged at all. When I remove the lighting cable and plug it back in the charging icon is visible again.

The happens only intermittently, not every time I plug it in

Hi jomeara,

I understand you're having some trouble charging your iPad. Let's team up to get that charging consistently.

First, follow the steps here for if your iPad won't charge:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device, then firmly plug your charging cable into your device. If the charging port is damaged, your device probably needs service.

The tip above is very important. I recommend grabbing a flashlight and inspecting the port very carefully for debris or damage.

Let me know if all of those steps help you get your device charging.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
