iPad Mini 4 Battery widget missing

I'm running iPad Mini 4, latest iOS. There is NO Battery widget at all in the Widget list. Either enabled or disabled. It's not there at all. How do I get it back?

iPhone SE, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2), Mac Mini 16GB RAM 2 x 1TB Drives

Hi,

I was under the impression that the widget would not appear unless you had a compatible device connected to the iPad such as a keyboard or headphones for this to show. There is no point having the widget if you are just looking for the battery percentage as this can be found in the top right hand corner.

Please see the below article for guidance, particularly the last post.
