Apple Menu > System Preferences > Bluetooth.
It sounds like you are trying to pair the Bluetooth headphones to the Mac? You will need to put your headphones into pairing mode. How you do that depends on the make and model of the headphones.
Thanks, Fox5th. When I go to Bluetooth in System Preferences on my Mac with 10.13.3 I see only my iPhone 6S "not connected" and no live link by which to link the Mac to Bluetooth earphones *though the 'phones are paired with the phone so I can listen to a movie without disturbing others i the room. I hope that helps you spot my issue.

FoxFifth, I see you have responded to my question about setting up Bluetooth on my MbPro, but I can't find the text of your answer. Can you please help me find it. I've clicked everywhere.
Thanks
My answer was to go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Bluetooth to turn on Bluetooth on your MacBook Pro. You didn't provide much information about what you meant by "set up" so if that doesn't help, you can reply with more details.
