1 flag still showing up in the flag folder

Question

1 flag still showing up in the flag folder

For months now I have a flag showing up in the 'flagged' mailbox but no message there. I've searched for flagged message and there are none, I have rebuild mailboxes and still it remains. I have given in and would love a solution. And yes I have restarted my machine as well. For this reason I avoid using flags at all, but when I do, the number increases and the message moves to the flagged folder and they show up there, I unflag them, they get removed and that (1) still shows up but nothing there.

Any solutions? I'm grateful!

You are using the filtering methods accordingly to this article Mail for Mac: Filter the message list in Mail

Click on unread as shown with arrow , then select the mail click on drop down arrow in the same screen shot there is red flag and clear the flag , but you will still see flagged mails in left mail side bar , it depends how many mails to be unflagged so that number will be reduced from 3 to 2 or 1 or zero .

if you clear all **** , clear them but have to quit the mail application and then again open it , this example is used for an IMAP gmail account , using non classic layout .

Thank you that was an excellent idea and unfortunately there's nothing there at all, no messages are thrown up at all, I have also going through some mailboxes and done the same toggle but nothing appears as flagged at all.

Very bizarre. I had the same issue a few years ago, but cleared when they released a new version of macOS.

Thank you so much for your suggestion, it's one I will definitely re-visit in the future.
