I'm a newbie and not sure when selecting a New Project whether to use the "electric guitar" or "acoustic instrument" for my electro-acoustic guitar - any thoughts/experience?

It depends on what you want to do. Try out both and decide what you like best.
The electric guitar track makes it easy to use special amps and amp designer to create your own amplifier, also a pedalboard with various filters for special effects.
The basic audio track is perfect for a clean sound to record the acoustic sound of your guitar.

Try it out with both types of tracks and compare. I don't have a Fishman Auro.
GarageBand is recording the tracks dry, so you try out many effects on one recording.
Thanks Leonie - I want to sing as well, and I was thinking to use an electro-acoustic through a Fishman Aura which is what I use for gigs
