iPhone X gps accuracy!

Why is iPhone X gps accuracy approx. 1 mile radius when connected to LTE and WiFi? This is not useful for utilizing Apple maps for driving directions.

Was able to get into the Apple store, made an appointment and they did a warranty exchange on my iPhone X. New unit works fine. Genius Bar diagnostics were unable to find anything wrong with my original phone but they could replicate the issues I was having and replaced the phone

Hi gipsystranger!

I understand that your iPhone is having issues with GPS accuracy, and I'm happy to help. Here is some guidance from a support article:

Improve GPS accuracy

GPS accuracy depends on the number of visible GPS satellites. Locating all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. To improve GPS accuracy:

  • Make sure that you've set the date, time, and time zone correctly on the device in Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.
  • Keep a clear view in several directions. Walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains, and other obstructions can block line of sight to GPS satellites. When this happens, your device uses Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are visible again.

Cheers!

Hi,

I do have the date/time set to automatic.

I have attempted to improve accuracy by standing in an open field with clear line of site and this only gives me a resolution accuracy of between 750ft and .25 miles radius. I have also had significant issues with WiFi reception and Bluetooth reception tot he point where at 10ft from a AP I get 2 WiFi bars on a 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network and for Bluetooth using Apple Air Pods I get no reception on the AirPods with the phone in my front jean pocket... thinking there is either a Antenna design/manufacturing issue or a wireless chip issue on this iPhone X
