i happy to help you here at apple community...
just go to the settings app of the mac book air and then you will need to select the option desktop and screen saver in the app.
but if you need custom wallpaper of your choice then you can import the photo in the Photos app and then choose share option and there is a option for choosing the photo as wallpaper there.
