How can you unlock an iPad without the original receipt or the user name or password from the previous user?

This question went unanswered for over a year by every Apple employee I asked (and I asked many at various locations). Until yesterday.

A nice young employee at the Washington Square Apple Store (Tigard, OR), who called himself Jash, typed the ID number on the back of my iPad into his handheld device and retrieved the receipt, printed it out and a manager unlocked it for me.

So, if you know where you bought it, they should be able to do the same thing for you.

Lesson learned: don’t stop asking. Just because an employee gives a definite answer, it isn‘t neccessarily final. This is true for every store, bank, company, etc...I’m not Apple picking.😁
