Remove religious holidays from iOS calendar

How can I remove religious holidays (for example, Christian, Jewish, etc.) from the iOS calendar on my iPhone and iPad? I know there is an option to remove "holidays" but I don't want to remove secular holidays such as New Year, Labor Day, 4th of July, etc.

I searched online for the answer to this question but found nothing helpful.

Thanks to all for reading and for any suggestions!

iPhone SE, iOS 9.3.2, 64GB

It appears Apple's late February response to the outcry at the removal of religious holidays (which only represented Christian events) from the calendar was a complete remake to create a cultural calendar representative of modern USA ethnic and religious diversity. This has admittedly resulted in a busy calendar and you can make or subscribe to a different calendar that only has what you want.
