App Store on my MacBook Pro indicates that I have two available updates, but when I go to updates the screen is blank. Tried restarting, shutting down and powering up, and resetting NVRAM.

I had this problem too.
I followed another post on this forum, to do the following which worked for me...
In terminal,
1.delete files inside...
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
2.delete files inside folders with "appstore" in their name, inside the folder, there are random named folders, with caches inside them...
/private/var/folders/
3. reboot
after doing the no 2. step and rebooting, the App Store updates screen returned to normal for me.

Got it back by just logging out and back in to App Store. Thanks all for the tips. I'll keep them in mind if it recurs and the logging out and in doesn't fix it.
If installled, disable net monitoring apps such as Little Snitch and third party anti virus software then try Updates at the App Store.
Open terminal and key in:
softwareupdate -i -a
This works for me.. no phantom update notification anymore..
Somehow update tab in App Store seems blank and no solution has been found yet..
Update:
I got this solved!
Following updates in terminal, restart & press and hold shift key to enter safe mode (this will clean up caches).
Restart again, updates tab is back!
