Hardware error 4MEM/9/40000000: 0x85ed9798

Hi have an iMac 12,2 (OS Mavericks) that won’t start. Cannot boot to with safe or recovery mode. Ran hardware test and came up with a hardware error code: 4MEM/9/40000000: 0x85ed9798. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

This is a RAM error. If the computer's RAM was upgraded then it's like either an incorrect RAM DIMM, unseated RAM DIMM or a failed RAM DIMM. IF the RAM was upgraded removed all the upgraded RAM, re-install the original RAM and re-test. If it's the original RAM then it's likely a failed DIMM.

You can take it your local Apple Authorized Service Provider who can help troubleshoot and repair it for you. Don't worry, it's shouldn't be expensive.
