iPod Nano 2nd Generation wont charge

I found my iPod the other day and it is completely dead. It has been dead for about 5 years. One day I went to charge it and it would not charge so I bought a new charger cable and it didn't work. So I gave up on it. I recently found it again and decided it was time to try to charge it again. So I bought a cable and plugged it in (to both my computer and wall charger) and it doesn't charge. I have followed all online forums of what to do but nothing has worked. I don't know what else to try. Could someone help please? Thank you.
