Mac mini not recoginizing camera via thunderbolt/fw in imovie. Can't import.

I bought a thunderbolt to firewire adapter for my mac mini (late 2014) to be able to digitize/import video from my panasonic ag-dvx100a (mini dv tape). My mac is not recognizing camera.

Then i realise my Camera is not compatible with Mac. Is there any other option to connect my camera to my IMAC? I ould like to transfer the Mini DV tapes to the IMAC. My IMAC is old. Thank you!

Have watched several tutorials on YouTube that have led me to buy the correct cables, however when opening iMovie, the camera isn't appearing as an option when camera is in Play/edit mode. Have tried several different solutions such as restarting my Mac with the camera plugged in and without but to no avail. The camera is also not showing up as if its not recognised, even though all 3 cables are connected. Have seen several people have been having the same problem as far back as 2007, so the solutions for them are outdated. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am stumped. Lukas
