With Safari open press Command , (comma) on your keyboard. That is the keyboard shortcut.

Otherwise, from your Safari menu bar click Safari then from the drop down menu click: Preferences

My problem is I don't see a drop down menu. No menu bar. I click on Safari from the dock but what comes up is a screen with only my bookmarked websites directly below the search box at the very top. The search box is apparently only for other websites, or at least that's all I seem to get when I enter anything in it. Below that are icons (or whatever you call miniature versions) of bookmarked websites.
