How to stop next episode from auto-playing?

At the end of a TV episode on the TV app, the next episode appears alongside the credits of the episode currently playing. There is a button to watch the new episode now, or, if I simply wait, that next episode will play automatically. That's great when I want to "binge watch" episodes. However, when I want to stop watching, I can find no way other than repeatedly pressing the menu button or waiting and pressing pause at the beginning of the next episode - then, it's difficult to get back to next episode, or to switch to a new show.

How can I stop the next episode from playing automatically, while still remaining ready to play when I return?
