System pauses and Spinning Wheel
Since I upgraded to High Sierra 10.13 on my Late 2013 iMac (2.7 GHz i5 w/16 GB of memory) a few weeks ago, I've been getting all sorts of random - but frequent - pauses in the performance of my system. Microsoft apps will freeze (with or without a spinning wheel), Chrome will lock up while I'm typing, the same with Apple Mail - all typically for 3-5 seconds. It's really annoying, since it stops my typing dead in its tracks.
I've watched the Activity Monitor while this pause was happening, and no app seems to be pegging the machine.
I seem to recall encountering this (SWOD: Spinning Wheel of Death) issue a few years ago, and the answer might have been to rebuild the indexes.
Any ideas?
