My iMac Late 2012 27" with 24GB Ram is running noticably slow now with Office 2016. Anyone else noticing this? Not sure if its the Microsoft update - 16.11.1 (March), or the OSX update 10.13.4 (March).
Real delay detween copy and pasting (even one cell) or insrting a row. Used to be lightning fast. Any idea of problem, or possible solution?

A failing drive could certainly be the problem but so could using third party utilities to do things that Mac OS already does. If you would, please run and post the result of Etrecheck http://etrecheck.com/ That will give us a better picture of what may be going on.
You might also run the Apple Hardware Test to see if it reports an error How to use Apple Hardware Test on your Mac - Apple Support
Other than Little Snitch, which can sometimes cause problems, I don’t see any of the “usual suspects”. There are some things I would try though. If the problem is with Office only I would uninstall and reinstall Office.
If the problem is more wide spread I would first eliminate all of those log in items And ask myself “do I really need all of these starting at log in”?
I would also try disconnecting the external drives and resetting the SMC again How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support and the NVRAM How to reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
Finally if it was still slow I’d try running the 10.13.4 combo update from here Download macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Combo Update Even though you’ve updated to 10.13.4 already it will overwrite that update.
BTW make sure to have a current backup before doing anything just in case. No Time Machine with all of that available external storage?

Sorry for the delay in replying (been away). I tried what you said, and yes responsiveness is defiantly better thank you, but not as good as it was. I have run DriveDX and the drive is showing overall health of 55.1%, could this be part of the problem?

Don’t worry, for backup I have CCC and SuperDuper, got caught out years ago on a pc. Never again! ( on my other Mac I have CCC, SuperDuper and TimeMachine!).
