I updated my iPhone6 to 11.3 and now my battery is draining very fast. Battery health shows currently supporting peak performance. How can I stop my battery from draining so fast after the update?

My iPhone 6 battery is draining very fast after updating to 11.3. Battery health shows Maximum capacity 94% and battery currently supporting normal peak performance. How do stop the drain and get it back to where it was before the update. It had a full charge and 4 hours later without use it was down to 41%.

56% for Messages is very high. I had a similar problem with high battery drain and turned out iMessage had crashed - was presumably stuck in a high-CPU loop which was sucking battery. Try closing iMessage (double click home button, swipe up on iMessage) and restart it; see if that helps.

Did you double check the Background app refresh?

Under Settings>Battery, what apps does it show are using up the battery life?

There are millions (billions?) of iPhones in use. At any given moment, some of them will be having a problem. The symptom of some problems is rapid battery drain. It can, however, have many causes. Other people may have other problems causing the same symptom.That's why you have to troubleshoot. If restoring to factory state doesn't resolve your issue, your problem may well be hardware. Have it checked out.

I updated two days ago. On the home screen there was a 1 on settings. I clicked on and it said Update 11.3 has been downloaded and ready to install. I clicked on install and it installed it. My background app refresh has been turned off since the update prior to this one.

Have you tried my suggestion to restore your phone from your back up (could be one you make just before the restore) using iTunes?

It shows 56% for messages, 14% for mail, 13% for settings, 5% homes& lock screen 2% safari and 1% flashlight.

Thank you. I got the messages down to 3% but now the settings is at 67% and Home and Lock screen at 10%.

How long ago did you update? I would wait at least 24 hours before expecting battery life to be completely normal. There's often background tasks being completed.

Check Settings>General>Background App Refresh. Some people have reported that things they thought they had turned off were turned on again.

How did you update? Over the air? Or by connecting to iTunes? Occasionally, a process will get stuck during the update. Backing up and restoring with iTunes will generally fix that.
