Apple Watch Series 3: Cellular VS No Cellular

I am not certain which version of the series 3 to invest in. My primary goal is to use this device for practicing healthier habits, tracking calories burned during workouts, and syncing it to healthapps (such as MyFitnessPal). I would like to be able to listen to music while working out (I prefer Spotify, but I do have songs on iTunes). I also enjoy audiobooks, whether I am in the car or on the run.

I want to know:

Which version of the apple watch will work away from your iphone? Such as on a hike well over 5 miles away from your cell phone?

Can you have other apps on the watch? Such as MyFitnessPal and Spotify? How about iBooks?

Which version is better suited for my primary goals?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I keep going back and forth but don't want a high pressure sale on the more expensive version if I don't need that version.

Both versions will work when away from your iPhone. The cellular model will have a few more features when away from the paired iPhone however.

You can use any Apps on your watch that have a Watch version. My fitness Pal has a watch version you can install from the Watch App Store in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Spotify unfortunately does not.

Both versions do essentially the same things, and work essentially the same way. So both are suited for what you want to do exactly the same.

It's up to you whether you want to pay for the cell service for the watch which is added to your monthly plan on your iPhone's cell service. The only added benefit of cell service is getting calls and messages when away from your iPhone and having access to the internet when not on Wifi.
