mac will not wake up

I have an iMac late 2011which has worked OK on setting to Sleep at night and then waking to key stroke (Return/delete) until recently.

there is the slightly audile buss (of disk?) but it does not respond to keys or the power button.

I now have to power down completely and then start the whole wake up procedure.

Is this due to the latest software?....

or any other ideas would be appreciated.

Keyboard (KB) usually won't wake up iMac; makes popping sound; in Bluetooth; no keyboard found. Using Apple wireless KB which seems to work except in waking up; it may work if the "sleeping" has been for a short period but this is conjecture as I've noticed the KB does seem to function if I have initiated "sleep" via the menu and then used a key stroke shortly after. "Diagnostics" also doesn't seem to function on this (MontereyOS) device which may be related.

sleep wake failure Every time my Mac falls asleep, it has to restart itself before it'll turn back now and comes up with sleep wake failure notification. Not sure how to fix?
