Charging the iPod Touch Through my MacBook Pro

I just order a new iPod Touch which has a lightning connector port to charge it and was told that I could charge it through my MacBook Pro laptop which has just two ThunderBolt contacts on the left side.


Fortunately I still have a lightening to USB cable and an AC adapter from my old iPod Touch whose battery is fading.

Can't I just continue to use this cable/adapter on my new iPod?

iPod touch, iOS 11.1, Actually IOS 11.1.1

The Apple 5W USB Power Adapter is compatible with multiple iOS devices and can be used to charge your iPod touch:

Specifically, these are the compatible iPod models for the power adapter:

iPod Models


You can continue to use the same Lightning to USB cable as well. If the new iPod touch was purchased directly from Apple, a new Lightning to USB cable, Apple EarPods, and a Quick Start guide will be included with the iPod touch:
