Screenshot defaulting to open illustrator

When I open a screenshot on my mac, automatically adobe illustrator opens the file rather than preview. Please help?

How do I prevent Preview from opening when taking a screenshot? All of a sudden just a day ago after taking screenshots on my Macbook Air, Preview was opening instead of just the screenshots saving on my desktop. I don't recall making any setting changes. It just suddenly happened. I normally use the Shift + Command + 3 and sometimes the Screenshot program. Both would just save the screenshot on my desktop instead of opening Preview. Is there a way to get it back to the way it was before? Thanks.

screenshot open in preview not working properly When you take a screenshot with the "show floating thumbnail" option enabled, if you right-click on the thumbnail in the bottom-right of the screen after taking a screenshot, it opens a menu with several options to either save or open the file. The "Open in Preview" option is not working correctly on my machine. When I try to "Open in Preview", if the Preview app is not already running, then I simply get the system dialog to choose a file to open in Preview, and my screenshot seemingly is lost. If Preview is already open, then the screenshot is sent to Preview as desired, however the dialog to choose another file to open still appears, and thus I have to cancel out of it before I can do anything with the screenshot. I have restarted my computer, and the issue persists. I took a screen recording illustrating the problem, but I can not upload it here.

How to stop Mac screenshot preview opening? So I updated my MacBook Air a while ago (version 10.15.6) and now EVERY time I screenshot (COM + SHIFT + 3), it automatically opens the screenshot in a new window and forces me to rename and save the screenshot to a specific location manually. It's so annoying. Is there a way to turn this option off? Before updating, taking screenshots would just save to my desktop and have a little preview in the bottom right corner that disappeared after 5 seconds. It was so much easier for me, honestly, and time efficient. I tried doing COM + SHIFT + 5 and turning off both 'Show Floating Thumbnail' and 'Remember Last Selection' from the options, but it still continues my issue. How do I get it back to the old way?

Change the default opening app in Finder/Get Info.
