using icloud as a timemachine backup

Is there a way to backup my macbook pro using iCloud the same essential way I would use a timecapsule? My older timecapsule's powersupply keeps failing. I would like to use the icloud drive as a available drive to do direct timemachine backups for everything on my Macbook Pro. The icloud drive is not visible as an alternative backup drive inside timemachine.


I am already doing the "partial" backup for my iOs and my OSX and have all the items checked (contacts, music, iCal, etc)

It would create an endless loop, since the local copy of iCloud Drive will also be backed up by Time Machine. So Time Machine would have to backup its own backup.

Why not get yourself an external drive for your Time Machine backups. You will want to have at least one local backup of your Mac, that you can access immediately, if you need it. In an emergency you will not want to have to wait, if there should be a problem with the internet connection.
