Unable to update my iMac 2011 past macOS High Sierra 10.13.1

I am unable to update my iMac 2011 past macOS High Sierra 10.13.1? Install goes thru the process and looks like it will happen and reboots with apple welcome screen (like other updates before asking about sharing crash data) but then app store tells me it didn't complete and to try again. I check "about this mac" and sure enough, still sitting at 10.13.1. I've tried the downloaded update too but it does the same thing. Please help!

All, thanks for the help... I ended up downloading the High Sierra full install from the app store and installed again. It worked. This was before rkaufmann87 made the suggestion above. Hopefully things will continue to update normally from now on. Thanks again

Thanks macjack... I tried that before and just did again twice but does not work. Seems like the installer starts and maybe gets halfway before things go weird. The time remaining seems normal until maybe 8-10 mins left then it goes from 8 to 0 in eight seconds and restarts. One time I did get an error message about USB ports but since then I've tried the update with all usb devices unplugged and no error message but the update will not work. Also, this happened with the 10.13.3 updated and I figured I would wait for .4 and hope to fix my problem!

Quick update from my post above... install restarts and says 16 minutes left. When it gets to 12 minutes is when the countdown starts and each minute is about 1 second. At 10 minutes left (really 10 seconds) I can hear Skype start up in the background (I have it start as a login in item). Seems kind of weird that things would already be starting?

Hope that helps someone help me! Just thought the more information the better.
