Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile

Windows 10 64b

Outlook 2016 32b (installed from Office 365 download)

iCloud 7.2


The error is "Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile"


Has anyone found a fix for this yet?

I found this answer from micrisoft.com which worked for me:

In Windows 10, I found the iCloud shortcut on the Start menu. I right-clicked on it, and opened File Location. There, I right-clicked on the iCloud shortcut and went to Properties. Set it for compatibility with Windows 8 and clicked OK.


Back in the iCloud settings, I was able to set it up to sync with my Outlook calendar.

I had a new surface pro 5. I activated the on machine Office 365 Personal. Attempted iCloud install - got the famous 'repair' issue. Removed Office 365 Personal. Purchased from Office.com the same, now I see in Installed Programs. Re-installed iCloud - now I see the famous 'default' issue. Now I make the change your recommend after reading a lot of suggestions I would not take, and I think, no harm no foul, I try this simple change, and voila, working!
