I have an issue with hands free on my 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe. My iPhone 7 Plus successfully paired via bluetooth, but there is no sound from the speakers in my car during the phone calls. IOS version is 11.3. iPhone 4 with IOS 7.1 works well as many Androids.

Hi.

I have a 2006 Toyota Prius with Bluetooth (BT). It paired just fine with my Iphone5. Ive just treated myself to an Iphone 8+ but it cant see my car. I made some enquiries and the Iphone 5 uses Bluetooth version 4....the 8 uses version 5. I assume the car also uses 4 or it wouldnt have previously connected to the IP5. There is no Prius software update to BT5. Im told theres no way to set the IP8+ back to BT version 4. Anyone got a work round or all older cars will become incompatible to new phones as BT evolves into the future.

Ok, update: Spoke with apple and Toyota support. They both understood the problem but cant see how to overcome it via the phone or car ie you cant upgrade the car software or set the phone back to 11.2. He's agreed to raise the matter at their weekly tech meeting.....fingers crossed for 11.32 . However he suggested another way to work around. For around £15 you can buy a Bluetooth device that plugs into your car cigarette lighter...Radio BT adapter or sm fm transmitter. I will try this and see what happens. Hands free is too important to me to let this issue drop without a fight.

Well Derhh! me. Having wasted hours on this, phoning apple support, Toyota and Bluetooth device manufacturers, jabbering about the arcane differences between old/new versions of this and that ....Its now working perfectly !!!

Solution (well for me anyway) Under the Prius' telephones tab, it was showing Iphone (my old Iphone 5 I assume) When trying to set up the new IP8+ it was getting confused coz it also tries to register the new phone as Iphone as well. The solution was simply to delete all past phones from the Prius (as suggested elsewhere but not so easy to do) then go to the Bluetooth setting and hit Register. Bingo

Good luck to others.
