when I exported my imovie to my desktop, it won't let me play it on QuickTime, so that makes me feel something went wrong with the export. I also tried uploading it to YouTube, but it is a small file it's only 3-7 minutes long and it was taking over 5 hours to upload only half of it. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you! Also, when I try to upload from Imovie, it says failed!!

There may be some corruption in the video that is causing the failure. Did you get any error messages? Since it is a short video, try scrolling though it frame by frame, particularly at the half way point where it fails, to see if there are any black frames, flickers, white flashes, artifacts or other signs of corruption. If you find any corruption, trim it out and try sharing out again.
You could also try some diagnostics like:
1. Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys, and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears.
2. Do an Edit/Select All, Edit/Copy, of the media in your project and Edit/Paste it into a newly created project. See if that shares out properly.
