What is the best stylus to use with iPad mini 4?

They work work the same really when it’s not active pens like the apple pen which your iPad do not support

the point of the pen has a capacitive layer so it give the same respond to the screen as your finger

so they are all the same apart from the size of the capacitive point

If you are looking for a “smart”Bluetooth stylus for drawing (similar to an Apple Pencil), the only one I can honestly ann strongly recommend is the Adonit Pixel.

The Bluetooth connection is stable and its Bluetooth pressure sensing technology is very smooth, natural feeling and has consistent line drawing ability.

I have been using this stylus for over two years now and it is really good on my iPad Pro.

This stylus works wonderfully for me.

The Adonit Pixel works across many iDevices.

It Has ON/OFF/shortcut buttons.

Has a nice fine, textured pen tip AND a nice rubber grip.

Magnetically charges, has an auto 15 minute shutdown feature ( to preserve battery life ), charges in a hour.

I find it only lasts for 16-20 hours, but Adonit claims up to 24 hours of continuous use on a charge cycle.

Made of very high quality aluminum materials.

Works with about a dozen of the major/popular drawing/sketching/painting apps (the Pixel/Pixel Pro works with, but currently not “officially” supported with Procreate, but it still works and works pretty well in Procreate ), and about a half dozen of the popular note taking apps, a half dozen writing apps and about a half dozen PDF style/compatible apps.

You need to set up each and every Adonit compatible app to recognise the Pixel stylus, in addition, to tweaking pressure sensitvity preferences curves and hand/palm position to achieve the best performance of this stylus.

It is NOT simply a matter on turning on Bluetooth and turning on the stylus and start drawing in a compatible app.

There are some additional steps that must be taken.

This stylus works with other non-compatible apps, too, but without any palm rejection feature.

You can use this stylus with other apps but will not be able to lay your palm on the screen, unless you use special drawing gloves that work to isolate your hand and allow you to lay your hand on the screen as you draw in these non-compatible Adonit stylus apps.

If interested, AND to make sure you get the latest installed firmware, you must order one of these directly from the Adonit website.

Another route to go is to use a fine point, so called “Active” stylus which is a capacitive type stylus that uses standard batteries or rechargeable Li-ion batteries as the electrical conductor (instead of your finger) to send a tiny electrical current to a fine point tip on these types of stylii.

Just like regular common capacitive stylii, there is no circuitry or app drivers for palm rejection.

So, you can’t lay your palm on the screen while you draw or write.

To get around this, though, you can purchase, relatively inexpensive special, non-conductive lycra drawing gloves that act as a electrical insulator, allow you to lay your hand/palm down on the screen while the glove is on your hand.
