i know it’s water resistant but does that mean I can go in the pool with it or clean it in the sink??

Not really. Apple has each iPhone made to the IP67 water/dust resistance spec at the factory. That sounds effectively "waterproof" for most people, but they don't guarantee it. There are way too many reports that people either willingly or accidentally tested the water resistance and found there was "liquid intrusion" anyways. Apple will not cover liquid damage.
