Several of my photos in the Mac app Photos are showing up as bright red rectangles, whereas most photos are showing the...photos. Some are from my iPhone and some are from my Canon 50D. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Before the last MacOS update, the red photos weren't visible. Now, most will show after I select them. Any ideas?

Are only the thumbnail red, or also the photos, when you view them enlarged?
If only the thumbnails ae red, try to fix the thumbnails by rotating the photo back and forth.

I have the same problem and the rotating trick doesn't work.
Only some thumbnails will be fixed with a rotation and some of those will then go bad again when rotated back. All the images go red again though when double clicked on to view.
I'm having the same issue and the rotation trick didn't work for me. I'd be interested in any other fixes that are out there.
The photos also display as red boxes when I select them. Since the recent update they will mostly go from red to the photo in a moment, but some stay red. In either case, they remain red when going back to the multi-view.
I'll try your suggestion when I'm home and have a moment.
I have the same issue, though the trick Léonie, but it didnt work for me.
I have tried repairing the photos DB but it didnt work either...i am on OS Sierra and the latest version of Photos...
Any help more than welcome.
