Samsung SSD and High Sierra problem

I am struggling to get High Sierra to run on my iMac 5k without hanging, beach balling or black screening as soon as I try and use it. Booted in safe, recovered, reinstalled 10.13.4 all to no avail.

Booting from an external drive with the same macOS on it works fine though!

I am coming to the conclusion its the Samsung EVO 860 SSD that is causing the problem.

If if anyone else has this issue it would be good to hear from you.

Any suggestions appreciated.

My problem is now sorted. It was a faulty Samsung SSD. New one provided in exchange and ‘touch wood’ no further problems.

Yes agreed. I returned it and replaced with the same model and it’s all working fine (touch wood).

The Samsung is suspect.

I seem to have the same problem, only not on an iMac but on a 17" MacBook Pro (built late 2011).
