Glad to help.
I understand that your iPhone doesn't appear to be receiving AMBER Alerts, while your husband's (which is on the same carrier) does. In such a situation, it may be that AMBER and other emergency and government alerts have been disabled on your iPhone. You can check by visiting Settings > Notifications and verifying that AMBER Alerts is enabled.
Turn Government Alerts on or off
By default, Government Alerts are turned on for your device.* When you receive a government alert, you hear a special sound that's similar to an alarm. If you want to turn these alerts on or off, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Notifications.
- Scroll to the very bottom of the screen.
- Under Government Alerts, turn the type of alert on or off.
About emergency and government alerts on iPhone and Apple Watch

Actually I had already checked that and they were already selected. So I turned them off then turned the phone off then on again and reselected both alert buttons but when the alert when off again yesterday my phone did not sound the alert. What was even stranger was my Apple Watch went off and my husbands phone went off. My watch at the time it went off was not near my phone as I was in a different area of the house.. Thank you for your help with this
Try this experiment again. Only this time turn your watch off. The reason the alert went to your watch as opposed to your phone is it's assumed it's on your wrist, when paired with your phone and alerts come to the dominant device, which in this case is your watch. I'm going to assume your husband doesn't wear an Apple Watch?
Thank you for your response. It makes sense since I had both on. I have only had me watch for 4 days still learning. Though before my watch I have been having
trouble with ringtones for over a year that I had downloaded. Mostly with the default one. Even though it had been selected it always would go to the phones default tone. I finally went to the ringtones app and downloaded a new one upon downloading it asked me did I want to make it my default one and I said yes and it worked. Problem with that is I can’t use my original one I selected before. Strange
The ringtone issue started when Apple released iOS 11. It has something to do with moving to the 64 bit architecture and how some of the previously downloaded tones were saved. Getting a new ringtone was the simplest solution you could have done and one I myself did. Your issue with alerts is completely unrelated. Apple designed the watch to provide alerts when it's paired with your phone as opposed to having alerts on both devices. Can you imagine the joy of having an amber alert play on your watch and phone in the office at the same time?
Thank you for your Help. it made perfect sense as to what was going with both. Thanks again
My amber alert does not go off I have a 7 plus iPhone my husband has a 5 iPhone and his goes off we both have same area code and same carrier TMobile?
