iPhone not making charging sound

iPhone X, current iOS. I recently upgraded and immediately noticed that there is no sound when plugging in or using the wireless charging feature. Restarting fixed the issue temporarily (very temporarily, one day). I hope that this issue is addressed as soon as possible. I do not enjoy having to double check whether or not my phone is charging. Having the sound/chirp is very convenient.

Silly me - had same issue - problem was due to Ring/Silent button being toggled off (button is located just above the volume up/down buttons on left-hand side of phone). Doh! https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT203017. Must say would be nice to have some visual clue on the phone that this button is toggled on.

I’m experiencing this too. Like if you restart the phone it’ll be in normal state wherein the charging sound is there. But before I end the day. Once I charge it again, the charging sound is gone. I hope it’s just a software bug. Because it’s really annoying.

I just had the same issue with my iPhone X and solved it.

Press and hold the two volume up and volume down buttons on the left side of the phone simultaneously.

The phone will resume the ding tone upon charging.

Do it again and it will resume to silent.

Do we have an assurance that it is an software issue and not a problem on the hardware part of an iphone?

I have the same issue. Took my first phone in to Apple and they couldn’t find out why so they replaced my phone. This 2nd phone worked great for about 3 days and now does the same thing, no vibration or sound notification of charging. Restarting the phone does work but only temporarily. Software/Update issue?

I’m glad I’m not the only with this issue. When I went in to Apple they told me they never heard of this happening. But my guess is that it is a software issue, since this is my second phone with the same issue. Going in again this weekend.

I am also having this problem on the IPhone X. Just got a new car with Bluetooth where my iPhone automatically connects and thought the 4Runner was causing the phone to trip out and stop the charging sound whenever that connected. Glad to see that it should be a software issue. Was hoping it would be fixed in the recent iOS 11.4 update, but I just had the issue happen again post update... will be going to Apple soon.

having the same issue rite here. iOS 11.4 doesn't fix it up, tried restarting the phone, put it on recovery mode and re-installed the iOS 11.4 over again. doesn't fix the problem. hope they will fix it soon

I’ve been dealing with this for the last month or so as well, on an iPhone X. iOS 11.4 doesn’t appear to fix the issue as it just happened again yesterday. I restored my phone twice, once from a backup and second time I set up my phone as new. After restoring as a new phone, I was fine for a few weeks and the issue came back. My iPhone X was replaced and it’s happening on my replacement as well so I don’t think it’s hardware. I hope Apple addresses this, it’s driving me crazy.

I just deleted my Bleacher Report app. I'm going to monitor for about a week or so. Hopefully it fixes the problem. ****, I had this problem on my iPhone 6S Plus so changed to 8 Plus and it still has the same glitch what the **** its very frustrating.

Probably. I deleted my Bleacher Report app and since then, I havent experienced the soundless carging beep. Its all normal now for me thank god. You probably have to figure out which app causes this. Try deleting your oldest app. Some apps that are not being updated by the creators are surely not optimised. Hope it works!

You are a genius! I’m out of town, near Cupertino, of all places, and the infernal beeping wouldn’t stop for 5 days on this trip; and it only happened when using both my car charger and desktop charger. I thought my cords were faulty and considered replacing them. But my sons on our trip have the iPhone 6s and both of my chargers worked fine for them without any beeping. I then considered taking my iPhone X back to Apple. But I read this thread as a last resort and followed the instructions to delete my old apps - and 20 deletions later there’s no beeping! Thank you so much for the tech fix!!!!!

Enjoy mate! I know how it feels! I had the problem with my iPhone 6 S Plus and I was losing my mind so I bought an 8 Plus. Imagine the feeling of still having the same problem with a brand new phone LOL!
